Porsche Russland decided to start the new 2015 year with a rally of hybrid models Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid and Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, across the winter roads of Siberia and the Urals. This event is the first event of this kind in the brand history. Seven thousand kilometers of the journey from Lake Baikal to Yekaterinburg with a visit to various significant and picturesque places of Russian Siberia gave the participants a true idea of what the Porsche hybrid line of cars is like in winter Siberia.
The purpose of the expedition organized by Porsche Russland was to show how well the cars can adapt to the peculiarities of the Siberian weather and landscape.
A rich program was prepared for the participants of the rally:
  • Training at the Porsche extreme driving school on the ice of Lake Baikal;
  • Sightseeing tour around restricted access spots of the region;
  • Hunting and diving on Lake Baikal;
Following a long dynamic test amidst Siberian frost, the cars crossed the finish line in excellent technical condition. Throughout the trip, Li-ion batteries demonstrated high performance, allowing to significantly reduce the emission of harmful substances and fuel consumption. Along the way, the cars made stops at official Porsche dealerships for diagnostics. The diagnostics detected no serious technical malfunctions.
Effectively using the advantages of electric traction and hybrid mode, the participants of the PLUG IN TO SIBERIA trip visited the legendary cities of Siberia and the Urals: Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Tobolsk and Yekaterinburg. The key points of the journey were the three largest hydroelectric power plants in Russia: the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP, the Krasnoyarsk HPP and the Bratsk HPP, the feats of engineering.

Baikal is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Somewhere on an ice floe, over a three-hundred-meter abyss of the purest water, the hosts of the Big Test Drive had an argument. Of course, this was about cars – which one is the best? Andrey Boyko claims that the Porsche Panamera will be the most comfortable for traveling across Russia. Dmitry Dolgov insists that for traveling across Russia you only need a SUV, such as a Porsche Cayenne. To resolve this dispute, they went on a big trip to Siberia in hybrid Porsches.
